A passionate, authentic, and articulate communicator, Mariela moves audiences with her personal stories of transformation and perseverance. She provides practical and empowering techniques in a fun and engaging way.

Born under extreme poverty in Cuba, Mariela moved to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1995 at the age of 21. She became a single mother soon after and struggled financially for years, receiving at times help from the government. With her zest for life and determination, she went to Duke University where she studied Communications, and later she received an MFA in Writing and Literature from Bennington College in Vermont.

Mariela worked as a writer, editor, and marketing consultant before starting her own Marketing and Communications company in 2008 where she reached great success and was featured on various newspapers and local news stations.

In addition, Mariela has been a yoga and mindfulness practitioner for nearly 20 years and hosts women wisdom circles around the Triad area. During that time, she has developed tools and processes which she shares with her audiences to encourage them to live more conscious and fulfilling lives.

In My Own Words

My career as an empowerment speaker started organically, when my friends and acquaintances noticed my capacity to motivate people, and asked me to speak at their events. They were particularly interested in hearing my stories of growing up in Cuba, migrating to the United States, becoming a successful entrepreneur, and living a life of freedom and authenticity. They thought their audiences would be inspired by them.

And that’s just what I do. I tell stories about my life that motive and empower people to transform their own lives.

I’ve been humbled during my speeches watching audiences cry, laugh, and gasp, and I’ve been moved by the people who have lined up afterward to share with me their own stories and tell me how my speech had awakened in their soul longings that had been buried for decades. After each speech, most people in the audience feel ready to make some kind of change in their life, for the better. And I’m continuously grateful for the opportunity to make such an impact in their lives.

I would be delighted and honored to speak at your church, conference, luncheon, school, or private gathering. Please give me a call or send me an email.

“I send you my deepest thanks for your presentation … You were articulate, clear…and ELOQUENT. You gave us great insight into growing up in Communist Cuba and the challenges of your family situation and how you have risen to become the strong woman that you are. I know it isn’t easy for you to recount the bad years, and I am grateful for your willingness to tell us your story. With appreciation.”

“Mariela, I have heard so many positive comments on your talk Sunday. You are a delight. You marked places when you shrank, but not from a victim’s role. You normalized those dark places we visit on our way to the genius within. You not only talked about blossoming, but blossomed in front of us… Thank you for gracing us with your knowledge and insights.”
